Successful Start

There is nothing better than getting four-part harmony the first week of rehearsals! Just like that, the summer rust is off, and the 2016-2017 choral ensembles have hit the ground running. Everyone gets to take some credit for a particularly solid start. To the newest members, I hope that joining Concert Choir brings you great joy as well as musical and social fulfillment. To the returning members, this week's smooth start would not happen without your leadership, guidance, and example. Keep it up.

All members have some responsibilities to make this year successful.

-Be "here" in every possible way.

-"I can" and "I will" deliver successful performances. Demand it from yourself. Demand it from your section. Demand it from your director. Demand it from your choir.

-Practice! Many of you have smart devices; all of you have laptops. If you are not getting something, record it in rehearsal, take it home, and work on it.

-Listen! Listen to each other; listen to critiques.

-The easy way is not necessarily the right way. Keep doing it the right way, and it will get easier.

I have such intense respect for your decision to join Concert Choir. We have started a journey together, and I am really excited about where it will take us. Thank you for a terrific start to the 2016-2017 Choral Music season. Have a great weekend.
