Welcome Back

Welcome back for another fantastic year of vocal music and Howell Middle School South. Last year dramatically raised the bar, and there are high expectations for the 2016-2017 school year. If you are new to HMSS, Welcome! You are going to love it. If you are returning, Welcome Back!

The students that have enjoyed HMSS the most are the ones who got involved. Now, I could make a shameless plug and say, 'If you are going to get involved, why not choir?!' but I will not . . . for at least another paragraph. HMSS has so many clubs and athletics teams to join. Find something you are excited about, and be prepared to meet plenty of people just like you. School may not be fun all of the time, but it helps to have something to look forward to each week. Computer club, yearbook club, cooking club, TSA, band, jazz band, the spring musical, photography club; not to mention fall, winter, and spring sports! If you cannot find something here, check your pulse!

Having said that, if you ARE going to get involved, WHY NOT CHOIR?! I am talking to you, the student who used to sing in elementary school; and you, the student that sings in his church choir; and you, the student that, behind closed doors belts Adele like you are trying to fill Met Life Stadium; and you, the student that cannot go 3 minutes without singing a refrain from Hamilton. Come together. Right now!

I have heard every excuse why choir is not for you, but the most common one is, "I'm a terrible singer." Fact: you are probably better than you realize. Regardless, you are not joining to sing solo. Come check out a rehearsal; you will be glad you did.

So, whether I see you in class, in rehearsal, or just in the hallway, have a terrific year. HMSS is a great place to be!
